UPDATE: music. Emeli Sande Performs 'My Kind of Love'
Emeli Sande Shares What Inspired Her To Write 'My Kind of Love'
It's a heartfelt, emotional track, with tribal drums and echoey, ethereal vocals that reflect the raw emotion felt by the singer during her time studying medicine, before she embarked on her music career.
The track's sentiment was inspired by the patients Emeli met on hospital wards in Glasgow. Emeli explains: “During my time studying medicine, I found it hard to write, but one of the things that inspired me were the patients and the interaction that they had with their loved ones during their time of illness.
"When people arrived at the hospital, money and status became irrelevant and only health mattered, which sparked an honesty between people which was amazing to see."
She also added: "This interaction, declaration of support and love, was something I wanted to portray in the video the track”.
Directed by Dawn Shadforth, it’s the tale of two sisters and their evolving relationship, the youngest sister (played by Laya Lewis, Skins) having been confined to a hospital bed.
